Chapter 16 - More Corner Turning

Another corner has been turned - yeah! I just wish we had a map to figure out where all this corner turning is taking us and when we'll get there.

The second coat of Linen White paint went on very well in the kitchen, dining room and hallway.  Now we can attempt the flooring project - again...LOL.  We actually had a little play time after painting and organizing. We dined in town at a Mexican restaurant (it was terrible) and shopped in a few stores.

Sunday morning found us at our favorite place, the creek.  It's melodic waters seem to be flowing faster these days, and it is 42 degrees, down 4 from last month. Our neighborhood flock of ducks don't care, they just fly, float, and quack, quack, quack.

Speaking of snow, a 15 mile drive north on Highway 89A toward Flagstaff led us to about 2 feet of snow on the ground. Several snowmen guarded the road while we stopped to have some fun. We haven't "played" in snow in about 20 years. We exchanged snowballs and marveled at the beautiful scenery. I'd completely forgotten that distinctive "crunch" sound when feet walk on snow.

This weekend's small winter storm also brought more than snow, rain and sleet. Low lying clouds shrouded the red rocks turning them into old-time black and white photographs.

After mailing the last of our Christmas cards, we headed back home to enjoy our son's 30th birthday. My lungs are craving that pure air already.

Chapter 15 - 6 1/2 Inches

"It got pretty rough here last weekend" reported our neighbor, Rob, when we arrived. Patches of snow throughout the neighborhood attested to the 6 1/2 inches that blanketed the area while I rested on the heating pad watching football. Some areas were even too icy to drive safely. It was so cold our liquid dish washing liquid even froze - LOL.

The Linen White paint went on without a hitch. Pandora sure provides the perfect working music. Leaving early Sunday morning, a gray squirrel (first one we've seen here) frolicked on the rocks and trees next to our car. After breakfast, we enjoyed the airport mesa scenic view.

Driving home, the kitchen cabinet doors rattled quietly in the trunk. A good cleaning will help revive their original luster.

This weekend has rejuvenated my upcoming week!

Chapter 14 - ...Of Winter Storms and Heating Pads...

Winter storms and heating pads kept us away from the cottage this weekend.  :-(
The cortisone and lidocaine injected deep inside my neck in an attempt to help heal the herniated and bulging discs was very painful. I basically spent the weekend resting with a heating pad, Bill, and college football games.

On top of that a huge winter storm moved across our state dumping lots of snow up north. I really miss being at the cottage. Spending these last several months up north is slowly changing me. Breathing the fresh air, tuning in to the slower pace, and connecting with the living things reminds me how I am a part of everything. I long to stay more than one or two days at a time.

Hurry up weekend!
