The severe pain in my neck turned out to be a herniated disc. Darn. It is very frustrating because I can't work as hard as I want to. I just have to take it easy. Bill is very understanding and picks up the slack.
The powder blue, deep lilac and olive green colors covering the hall and kitchen walls were eradicated with Kilz primer. Next week Linen White will bathe the walls and match the living room. We also installed a few new ceiling lights.
Dinner at Oak Creek Market was delicious. We shared beef stew and a tuna melt while enjoying a nice conversation with one of the owners, Daniel. Being their last customers of the day they let us choose a few muffins that didn't sell that day which would be sold the next day as "day old" muffins for half price. A warmed chocolate chip muffin with melting butter made a perfect dessert.
Early Sunday morning we strolled to the creek and watched a flock of ducks floating along with thousands of leaves that have fallen from the trees. The 46 degree water temperature is down 2 degrees from last month.
Have a nice week and take it easy along with me.

Chapter 12 - Fall Color and a Moving Sale
Arrival at the cottage after a 2 week hiatus for my bad neck was so welcoming. The trees are wearing their finest fall colors; yellows, golds, reds and browns. Even the Milky Way seems to have donned a warm coat.
Once inside the cottage a persistent "chirping" noise consistent with a smoke detector's low battery alert nearly drove us crazy. All visible smoke detectors were fine and a search through the whole place came up empty. Then the chirping smoke detector was finally located inside a ceiling light. We'd never seen one like that before. Soon after removing it from the light and tossing it in the trash, the chirping started again. The smash of a hammer quieted it for good.
A short walk "over the river and through the woods" to gather our junk mail stash was fruitless due to a forgotten mailbox key. Walking home through the falling leaves was enhanced by the drifting aroma of well-fueled fireplaces.
After nearly six hours of laying flooring we realized that the kitchen and hallway must be painted before continuing. We disassembled our work and prepared for next time's painting. It always seems to be something.
The trip home proved very interesting. A "moving sale" sign too tempting to pass up led us to a beautiful home. We hit it off with the homeowners and were given a tour of their beautiful Sedona home with its fabulously stunning views. Two cars were even for sale due to their impending move to Wales. One of the cars interested us so we test drove it. It might be a good fit for us.

Chapter 11 - Pain!
The weekend at the cottage was full of pain for me. The degenerative disease in most of my cervical (neck) discs flared up so much that I couldn't stand or sit and spent most of the time snuggled under the electric blanket. The pain was unbearable! Sunday morning we left early and went straight to the emergency room where I was given heavy duty pain killers. Seven hours later I was permitted to go home on several prescriptions. We stayed home this weekend so I can continue to heal. We are hopeful to get back soon.
Sedona was blanketed in snow the morning we arrived. The cabinet we had set out for free went to a nice home somewhere else. Yeah. Bill was able to install the beginnings of the laminate flooring and it looks wonderful. Sedona - I miss you!
