Chapter 6 - Anniversary

Our 8:00 am cottage arrival was chilly. The 60 degree temperature firmly announced autumn's soon-to-be arrival, forcing me to quickly change into jeans and a sweatshirt. The trees are still green, but I'm sure their fall coat of many colors will be splendid!

A roofer fixed some things so we'll stay nice and dry. Hot water is around the corner; during the week a worker fixed some issues with the propane system. We did a few minor things around the place and decided to take the day off and have some fun.

Once in town we visited the Native American festival. Eating Indian fry bread while enjoying Native American music, hoop dancers and artisans was delightful. I purchased a music CD, Handprints of Our People by Aaron White & Anthony Wakeman, two gifted contemporary Native American musicians. We then browsed the Sedona library for our first time ever. A beautiful statue of Sedona Schnebly, who Sedona is named after, greets library visitors.

Before dining we drove around past many of the houses we looked at during the past two years on our journey to find the right place. Dinner at the Sedona airport restaurant was nice. Raising our wine glasses, we toasted our 34th wedding anniversary. Later we listened to Oak Creek's soothing waters as darkness overtook day. Sights and sounds seem more alive at night. The frogs sang us to sleep.

Sunday's tasks included painting Kilz on the guest bedroom floor after pulling the carpet tack strips, caulking the living room and relocating the outdoor spiders who've been living on the deck and house walls into their new home in the vacuum. Yuck!

Oh yeah - we now have a microwave that gives us much pleasure - especially POPCORN!

Handprints of Our People music filled our ears as we traveled to our other home..
